Story:
Varada Rajulu (Prakash Raj) is an honored leader in a place called Jammalamadugu. He saves the life of Venkatadri (Venkatesh) and his family in a road accident which happened in the childhood of Venki. Thereafter, Venki becomes loyal to him and worships him like a god.
Tanikella Bharani, uncle of Venki sends Venki to Jammalamadugu and requests Varada Rajulu to appoint him as a bodyguard for him. Varadarajulu though initially rejects Venki as his bodyguard, after reading the letter sent by his uncle will accept him. In an attack on Varadarajulu, he discovers that the target of his opponent (Kota Srinivasa rao) is not him, but his beloved daughter Keerthi (Trisha). Thus, Varadarajulu sends Venki along with his daughter to protect her in college and town.
Keerthi do not like Venki as her bodyguard and she felt embarrassing when Venki is in bodyguard uniform all the time along with her. In the process to make Venki wear casual dresses, she traps him over the phone and she says she loves him. Unknowingly, Venki also falls in love with the girl in phone (Named herself as Bangaram). Venki never knew that the girl he is in love with is keerthi. Rest of the story is how Venki wins his love, and how Varadarajulu reacts after he discovers the love between Venki and Keerthi, and what happens at the end?
Analysis:
Though this flick is a re-make of the hindi film titled the same, sensible changes have been made according to the targeted audience. However, we should say that the director failed in carrying the “Body Guard” mood for Venkatesh. Costume of Venki as a Bodyguard is not up to the mark. Background score is okay while the music is a disaster! If the music was good, it could have stopped the audience from going out during songs, mainly in the second half. There is a need to cut at least one song in the second half as its boring.
Applause to Venkatesh’s brand comedy. His mark of comedy worked well in the film. Ali (his character name is funny – Baapatla) is an advantage to the entertainment, while Venu Madhav’s comedy didn’t work well. Kota Srinivas Rao was not given enough time to show some performance. Prakash Raj is good in his role and best suitable as Varada Rajulu.
Telephonic conversation between Venki and Trish just before the interval is good and worked perfect emotion. Climax is well executed and this will surely attract many family audiences, especially Venki’s fans. Saloni is good as Swathi. Story is very well re-built by the team and screenplay is also good. All that makes harm to the movie could be the songs and less entertainment in second half.
