Review

Story :

Akash (Aadi) and Kittu (Vennela Kishore) are friends. Lovely (Sanvi) and Lalli (Chinmayi) are friends. Kittu and Lalli become facebook friends with celebrity profile photos. When they are about to meet in real, Akash and Lovely go to the meeting pretending to be Kittu and Lalli respectively. The rest of the story is all about how they fall in love and how they face the problems following that.

Artists Performance :

Aadi who has proved to be a good dancer with his first film has come a long way from there. Aadi is spontanious with his acting in casual scenes. His dialogue delivery is good and ability to perform stunts is commend-worthy. The light beard and light mustache added to his look (compared to thick mustache and clean-shaved beard in his debut film. Sanvi is alright as an actress. Vennela Kishore is like a second hero in this film and he carried the entire first half with his impeccable/improvised comedy timing. Chinmayi G is entertaining with her Telangana dialect. Rajendra Prasad is good as a protective father, there is something wrong his character sketch. Ahuti Prasad’s character is something similar to that of one he played in Kotha Bangaru Lokam film. Paruchuri Gopala Krishna is good as a crooked politician. Master Prem is cute.

Technical departments :

Story - screenplay - direction : Jaya’s work in this film is sophisticated. She handled the first half well where you need to get the characterizations and nuances right to set the plot properly. The way hero’s characterization developed is good. However the twist in the second half doesn't work. Screenplay looks good on paper and it works fine in the first half, but the second half screenplay doesn’t get elevated as certain episodes should have been done in a more arresting way. On a whole, Lovely is a better film from Jaya compared to her previous outings.

Other departments : Music by Anup Rubens is definitely an asset to the movie. All songs are shot and choreographed well. Dialogues by Shyam Manohar are mostly good. There is humor and understanding of contemporary world in it. Cinematography by Arun Kumar is nice and is rich in colors. Editing is fine in first half, but a bit abrupt towards climax. Production values by RJ Cinemas (BA Raju) are very good.

Analysis : First half of the film is decent and second half should have been better. Plus points of the film are First half, Aadi, music and dialogues. On the flip side, a better setup of schemes (twists) in second half would have made this movie more arresting. On a whole, Lovely is a better film among the ones directed by Jaya. We need to wait and watch how it fares at box office.

Story

Raj (Ram Charan Tej) is called as betting Raj because of his obsession for betting. James (Ajmal) is his betting enemy. Raj wants 20 lacs for the surgery of his adopted father. James is ready to offer 20 lacs as betting amount if Raj woos and wins over Chaitra (Tamanna). Chaitra is the daughter of a billionaire Bellary (Mukesh Rishi) The rest of the story is all about how Raj makes Chaitra fall for him and the troubles that follow.


Artists Performance


Ram Charan Tej: Ram Charan has proved himself as a terrific man for the masses with his first two films. He has chosen a safe and time-tested mass script this time. He is excellent with dialogues, dances, fights and mannerisms. You can find a lot of references to Gharana Mogudu in his mannerisms.

Others: Tamanna has a weighty role in this movie and does justice. She has danced with amazing fluidity. Ajmal (Rangam fame) plays an important role and he is good. Mukesh Rushi is routine. Brahmanandam’s comedy is partly okay. Ali’s cameo is nice. Parthiban is very good as the father of hero. MS Narayana is a miscast for the role of hero’s adopted father. The sympathy factor will not work out if you cast a comedian for role of a patient with critical illness. Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao did an important role.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: Story of the film is in an old-format. There are a couple of interesting screenplay twists in the second half. Director Sampath Nandi chose this film to be a tribute to Chiranjeevi’s early 90’s films (Gharana Mogudu, Gang Leader etc). If you look at hero’s entrance scene, he gives away winning money to friend sister’s studies. In Gharana Mogudu, hero gives away winning money to hero friend sister’s marriage (chelli nikka pakka). When the purpose is to make a film as a tribute 90’s films, you can’t expect the direction to be fresh and new. Sampath made sure that there are fun elements in the first half and surprise elements in the second half.

Other departments: Dialogues written by Paruchuri brothers are powerful as well as funny at times. They came out of their trade mark lengthy dialogue pattern and penned short/smart dialogues. There is a controversial dialogue - “Edo choosukuni thodalu kotte type kaadura nenu”. Cinematography by Sameer Reddy is mostly good. Cinematography for a few scenes in the first half is inconsistent. Music scored by Mani Sharma is good - Dilak Dilak and Vaana Vaana being the best in terms of visuals. Editing should have been crisp. Fights are well composed. Production values are grand.

Analysis: First half has a bit of fun. Second half has story and twists. Plus points of the film are Ram Charan Tej and dialogues. On the flip side, freshness in story and better handling of the film would have made this film connect with the contemporary audiences. Racha film is made for fans and masses. This is the first big star film of summer 2012 and it has garnered terrific openings. The success of the film will depend on how masses embrace it.

This time Megastar changed the gear though riding to same destination, Tagore is a very good message oriented movie with proper commercial ingrediants. Chiranjeevi’s introduction (Titles) got good applause from audience which is different from earlier movies.

His dance in kodithe kottali song is on par with his best which includes the famous sixer step and a continuous dance bit for 30 seconds.

Coming to the story..Tagore is a professor at a college who forms a group with students whose aim is to demolish the corruption in society, and in this process he chooses the targeted corrupt set of people and kills the top most corrupt among them.

This fear of death effectively controls corruption throughout the state.

One day, he bashesup few goons who try to close their college during exams. Later he saves shriya, who claims to be a social worker from them.

Shriya gets close to him and his kids. She enquires about his kids and finds that all of them are orphans and chiru is giving shelter to them.

After a couple of songs chinnaga chinnaga and vaanochenante, chiru takes one of his kids to a super speciality hospital and is billed heavily for a minor injury.

Frustrated chiru comesback with a masterplan and uses a deadbody to cheat the entire hospital staff. Later he claims for money for treating a deadbody.

Hospital is closed and unable to bear this insult, the hospital MD commits suicide.

Enters the villain, Sayaji Shinde, who is a gangster and builder in kolkatta and is also the father of deceased MD of that hospital. He spots chiru in a surveillance video recording in hospital and is shocked to see him alive !

Interval…

Second half starts with chiru’s flashback, where chiru and jyothika’s marriage scene is shown.

After some light comedy and a couple of songs, Jyothika and her kid are killed in a fire accident which occurs when the apartment collapses.

Chiru’s acting is extraordinary in this scene, when he sees his wife and kid burned to ashes. He realizes that builder, who is none other than sayaji shinde is behind this, and asks for justice. When turned down, he bashes everyone black and blue but is hit and thrown away by villain’s henchmen.

A group of medicos save him, and he decides to form a network of students who spread themselves into different government departments and gather information about most corrupt officials.

When, people stop taking bribes, gangsters use the fear factor to get their work done. So, Tagore decides to clean them out too. In this process he kidnaps a bunch of gangsters and kills the villain.

A special officer from delhi, Punnet Issar is deployed to solve this case, who uses a constable PrakshRaj’s investigative conclusions and arrests all ex-students of that college and gives them a redroom treatment. But, he fails to know their cheif’s name.

Unable to see the torture on his students, chiru decides to surrender himself on a condition that all those who were arrested will get back their jobs unconditionally.

Tagore is arrested and is presented in a special court, where he refuses to plead guilty.

Cheif minister(K.Viswanath) requests him to appeal for kshamabiksha. But, tagore replies naaku telugu bashalo nachani padam..kshaminchadam.

His speech in court is terrific.

In the end, tagore is sentenced to 5 years imprisonment and is released thereafter.

Story:
A good tale gone sour, the story begins with a group of friends Sridhar (Harshavardhan), Chandana (Haripriya), Nandini (Aditi), Mahesh (Trinetrudu), Bhakti (Bhakti), Jessica (Eva), Kishore, Scud. They are friends from school and do their college together as well. Once they pass out, they have their own set of goals. On the personal front, Sri- Chandana are a pair who don't express their love, Bhakti-Mahesh are a pair with unexpressed love, Nandini -Kishore is a pair which has expressed love and wants to get married but parental problem is there. Jessica wants to be a big fashion designer. What happens to each relationship and who ends up with what forms the rest of the story.


Presentation:
The director has attempted to show the problems of youngsters and tackling them in a humorous manner. Though the presentation was good, the narrative was a letdown. Background score was effective and songs were good. Cinematography was above average. Editing was required at key places. costumes and art department made their presence felt. Harshavardhan was good for a debut, Haripriya was the show stealer, Aditi was okay, Bhakti was nice, Trinetrudu was convincing, Scud made his presence felt, Eva's character was not etched well. M S Narayana gave some relief, Cochin Haneefa was decent, Waheeda was hot, Siva Prasad was excellent, Samrat was adequate. The others did their bit as required.


Conclusion:
The film suffers mainly due to the weak direction and the inability of the director to streamline the scenes and maintain a voltage. While the opening was okay, the film starts peeling off in few minutes and it starts working well in bits and pieces. The second half gets a bit of momentum but it is not sustained throughout. The production values are high and the technical aspects were scorable but it is due to the content and its narration, the film has taken a blow. Its fate lies entirely on word of mouth.

As the promos and the trailers show, the movie is about a group of 8 youngsters, including one foreigner who comes to India on a student exchange programme. The characters are introduced one at a time by Nagarjuna who jogs along with them in a park (And Nag's playing a guest role and so is Anuskha who comes for a jify).

All are friends right from college (or even school, which confuses the audience because of the uniforms in the flashback but eventually you indulge yourself in the movie, and you start assuming things) and they share quite a bond among themselves.Readmore

Story:

A testing tale, the story begins with Appalaraju (Sunil) who dreams of becoming a director and prepares a script with tragedy story. He comes to Hyderabad to join the film industry and meets a producer Rocky (Raghu Babu), creative head Pushpanand (Harshavardhan). Taking inputs from them, Appalaraju starts his mission and becomes successful in roping in the hot heroine Kanishka (Sakshi Gulati) and her lover superstar Babu garu (Adarsh). But a tiff between both make Kanishka go in for Babu garu's hot rival KT (Ajay) as the hero. Meanwhile, Appalaraju's new challenge comes in the form of financier Srisailam Anna (Brahmanandam), a don with passion for writing lyrics. With all this happening, whether he will score a hit or not forms the rest of the story.

Artist Performances:

Sunil has shown his mettle once again in terms of dance and performance, he shouldered the role well. Swathi is bubbly as usual and shows a different avatar in songs. Sakshi Gulati is voluptuous and her sex appeal is very high, she did her bit as required. Adarsh was adequate, Ajay was apt, Brahmanandam was good at places, Raghu Babu was impressive, Harshavardhan was effective. Tanikella, Ali, MS Narayana, Kota, Krishna Bhagawan were alright. Venu Madhav was silly.

Analysis:

This is perhaps one film which might make the audience rethink the abilities of Ram Gopal Varma. Nowhere is his brilliance seen, be it the scene composition or developing a plot. It is true that Ramu comes up with brilliant ideas but developing them into proper thoughts and completing them in the right manner is not happening. Given the theme of the film, this could have been a rip roaring comedy treat but nothing worked here. The film has many fluctuating moments so overall, it is a testing one for the audience. The chances of getting profits at the box office are very weak.

Verdict: Terrible!

Dookudu Telugu movie Review



Story

Mahesh (Ajay) is son of Shankar Narayan(Prakash Raj) a politician, but goes to a state of coma for 14 long years while fighting against goons Don Nayak(Sonu Sood ) and Kota Srinivasa Rao. Shankar desires to see his son as politician but Ajay turns as cop and tries to take revenge on Nayak. Meanwhile, Shankar Narayana gets out of coma and doctor advises Ajay to care of him as anything that upsets him might again cause him problems. So, Ajay hides all the incidents happened in these years and starts a new drama to make his father happy. How Ajay saves his father and takes revenge on Nayak is rest of the story.

Performances

It’s Super Star Mahesh’s show all the way. Being blessed with good looks, Mahesh was dashingly handsome in Dookudu. Mahesh’s screen presence is amazing and carries off the movie with ease. He rocked in every scene and every frame and special mention for his extraordinary comic timing. Dookudu is one of Mahesh’s best performances.

Samantha is extremely gorgeous and her body language, costumes and make up were apt and tailor made for her role as a fashion designer. Though Samantha hasn’t got much scope for performance, it has been a delight to watch her in what she delivered.

Brahmanandam yet again entertains to full extent in this awe-inspiring role. A special mention to the SMS request scene, he is outstandingly hilarious. MS Narayana is just awesome. He is another asset to the movie and his spoof of Yama Donga, Magadheera, Simha, Robo is highly entertaining. Vennela Kishore is impressive, Kota, Thanikella Bharani, Nazar, Suman, Prakash Raj, Sonu Sood are regular. Sonia of Happy Days fame leaves her mark. Pragathi, Shiva Reddy were alright. Others were adequate.

Technicalities

KV Guhan’s cinematography is top-rate and the exotic locales in the songs are well-shot. Dialogues by Kona Venkat are additional asset, few of them being hilarious. Thaman’s music is good but the background score could have been much better. Srinu Vytla’s direction was okay but despite roping in Super Star Mahesh, he has made a decent family entertainer without going for novel story.   Nevertheless, he showcased Mahesh Babu’s characterization in a new dimension and handled it carefully. A better Screenplay in the second half and slick editing could have made wonders at the Box-Office. Production values of 14 Reels Entertainment banner are good.

Analysis

Dookudu has been released with huge hype with peak high expectations. The film is a Srinu Vytla’s brand entertainer that lacks novelty in the script. The film’s climax resembles the Pokiri episode and the audience feels that the act is repeated while the fans might be delighted. Prakash Raj’s role has not been etched properly and few of the scenes take you to boredom. On the positive side, Mahesh carries of the film on his shoulders with his dialogues, comic-timing, fights, dance and his charisma. He has tried out his best to land the film in the safe zone. Brahmanandam and MS Narayana are other assets for the movie. Srinu Vytla tried to play safe by including all the ingredients of Glamour, sentiment, action, romance and comedy to more extent to make it as an entertaining fare. Unfortunately, the Father-son’s emotionality did not work as it has moved with slow pace. All in All, the first half of Dookudu is pretty good while the second half is average with bit dragging, though had its own engaging moments of humor. Comedy quotient saves Dookudu to a good extent. Don’t expect too high from Dookudu so that you’ll thoroughly enjoy it.

At the Box-Office, Dookudu has the high potentiality to end up as a good commercial hit. The movie has already taken bumper openings and is in the process of creating new records in few places. The producers have released the film in the right time cashing on Dussera season and it will hugely help in the collections.

Final Verdict

A formulaic Srinu Vytla’s brand, yet Dookudu entertains if you excuse some flaws …

Also, Gangotri is not a really good film. Sadly to say, mainly because of Bunny´s performance. While Prakash Raj does his usual "loving-father-gone-crazy-once-the-daughter-falls-in-love-with-another-man"-thing, and the heroine (Aditi Agarwal) is, well, a Heroine, what with all the whining, obeying the men around her and not being able to do anything on her own (literally! Bunny once even washes her feet), Bunny is NOT A HERO AT ALL. 

Maybe it was too early for him to start acting in movies yet, he was, after all, only around 20 years old at the time of the release, but although we see glimpses of his later, glorious self, these are really rare moments and soon forgotten after seeing his overall performance.

The story is also not one of the best and actually one big WTF!? but after seeing so many Telugu movies now, I have really grown used to it: Prakash Raj plays Neelakanta Naidu, a big factionist.  After a gap of many years, his wife gives birth to a baby daughter, Gangotri.

Every one is happy but, alas, we are in a Telugu movie after all: Apparently Gangotri is born under a very unfortunate constellation of stars or planets or whatever, I didn´t quite get it, maybe all together, but because of this she will die an untimely death through water.

Of course, every one is heartbroken but never despair, there is help offered by a nearby astrologist/priest. To prevent Gangotri´s death she has to be brought every year to the holy place of Gangotri which lies in North India, which gives us space later in the film for some very unfunny jokes about Northern Indians.  After 15 years, Gangotri would be free of any dangers. (Except dying by sickness, a car accident or a machete, of course).

Prakash Raj has also a confidant/servant called Narasimha, who between slaughtering Neelakantha´s enemies to pieces, is also father to Simhadri, a boy with an unusual beautiful voice. Simhadri and Gangotri become friends and Simhadri has to help Gangotri in a lot of different situations which at some point leads to a very funny song:

I couldn´t find the song on its own, so you have to ffw to 3:15 and 

no, you are not having hallucinations: it`s really Bunny as a girl.

After some drama, including Simhadri´s Ma sacrificing her life for Neelankatha, Gangotri comes of age, which means she gets her first period, so no more roaming around with Simhadri because,

you know, she could get pregnant by holding hands or something. Nevertheless, Gangotri and Simhadri realize that they fell in love. This can not be, of course, so much more drama arises. Meantime, Narasimha comes to the spot and interferes. This causes a rift between Neelakantam and Narasimha and after a misunderstanding Neelakantha bombs the house of Narasimha in typical impulsive and rash Telugu-Dad behaviour. When Simhadri comes to know that Neelakantha is responsible for the bombing, he comes to Neelakantha's house and challenges that he would marry Gangotri in 365 days. Hearing this, Neelakantha throws Simhadri out of the the village leading Simhadri to go to Gangotri, the place, for exile and Gangotri, the girl, starving herself. What will happen next you ask, understandably, and I know this all sounds really entertaining and like a lot of fun, but believe me it´s not. 

The performances are really not much to speak about, Prakash Raj is the only one who can be said to be really acting, the others are not much to be spoken about. Allu Arjun is cute, but does nothing special that´s worthy to be mentioned, even his most famous (and best) trait, namely his dancing, is really bad compared to today. But that´s understandable, it´s his first movie, but still, compared to some other debuts I´m really wondering who thought at that point of time that Bunny could be a hero?

Besides, Bunny and his love interest, Aditi Agarwal, have zero chemistry, which is not good, considering this movie is more romance than any other Telugu movie I have seen. Not only can Aditi not act, she is also much too old looking, not only for her part (she is supposed to be not older than 15 after all), but also much older than Allu arjun. (Although she isn´t, I just checked her Wikipedia-entry and she is more or less exactly one year younger to him).

This doesn´t necessarily have to be her fault but the costume designer´s or make-up artist´s or even Bunny´s who is himself looking much younger than he really was and I know that most of the Heroines are playing younger roles than they really are, but nevertheless, Aditi just couldn´t pull it off.

There are some supporting actors, Brahmanandam of course and Sunil who has a love interest you never would have thought of, some actress playing Neelakantha´s evil sister who is responsibe for a lot of the trouble and drama in the film, Simhadri´s parents. They are all okay, not bad but nothing outstanding.

The songs... well, the songs. What sometimes is the best part of an Indian movie, is here merely okay with some really bad exceptions. Interestingly the sngs in the second half are much better than the ones in the first, but, really, as sad as it is, nothing special and as they say, at least here in Germany, in one ear and out the other.

The film also has a strong spiritual/religious angle, after all, every one is referring to Gangotri as Ganga, which is the Indian synonym for the holy Indian river Ganges, which leads to some extensive metaphorical love lyrics about Ganga, the girl/Ganga, the river. Also, interestingly, there is a patriotic song in the beginning which I have never seen in a Telugu film before (or maybe just didn´t notice...?).

Anyway, the whole movie reminded me much more of a Hindi than a Telugu one, with the concentrating on religion, the (somewhat) subdued violence, the extensive romance scenes and even the songs reminded me much more of a Hindi movie. 

Overall, spare your money, unless you are a die-hard-fan of Bunny (like me) and have the unexplicable desire to see all of his movies, even the bad ones, because this movie really has nothing you wouldn´t wanna miss. For the leave and to lift your spirits after this somewhat negative review, here is something to cheer you up:

'Nene Ambani' is the Telugu version of the Tamil superhit 'Boss Engira Bhaskaran' which   had hit screens in South India in the month of September this year. And like 'Boss   Engira Bhaskaran', its Telugu version too is turning out good business at the box   office.  While the Arya - Nayantara onscreen chemistry has failed to impress the Telugu audience   as well, it is Santhanam's performance which is being praised by many. However no one   can doubt the hard work of filmmaker Rajesh M put into the movie. It is because of his   superb direction and the wonderful script of 'Nene Ambani' that the comic sequences in   the Telugu remake are a hit with the audience. 

Story:

'Nene Ambani' revolves around a boy called Bhaskaran, played by Arya who is very   kind-hearted and does not shy away from helping everyone in need. However, in this   process, he ends up harming his own career and life. The boy is still in college when   he ends up falling in love with Chandrika, played by Nayantara and wishes to marry her.   He cannot do so because he is unemployed. And it is from this point onwards in his life   that he starts working hard to build a successful future so that Chandrika can be his   forever. Will he be able to marry her and what hurdles will he have to cross in the   way? To find the answers you will have to visit the theater!  'Nene Ambani' will work because the Telugu will look forward to watching a film which   was a hit in Tamil.

If you've seen SMS (Siva Manasala Sakthi), director Rajesh's previous film, you'd get a fairly clear idea and know what to expect from Nene Ambani which has been dubbed from Boss Engira Baskaran. In the latter the director adds lot more romance and depends on his screenplay to dish out a romantic comedy. Nikhil is being seen in a lot of small budget movies these days with mixed success. He is now hitting the screens once again with ‘Veedu Theda’. The movie has been directed by B.Chinni Krishna and Prakash Babu is the producer. Pooja is the heroine for this project.

Story :

Katthi Seenu ( Nikhil ) is a carefree and brash youth from Tirupati, who lives with his Bava (Krishna Bhagawan) and Akka (Hema). A chance friendship with Love Kumar (Ali) leads him to Bheemavaram, where he comes across Meghana (Pooja). It is love at first sight for Seenu but Meghana does not reciprocate.

As the story progresses, it is revealed that Meghana has a past that is connected to the notorious don Liquor Shankar ( Shayaji Shinde ) and a jailed convict Das (Suman). They start pursuing Meghana and it is now upto our hero Seenu to step in as the saviour.

Why do the goons pursue Meghana? What connection does she have with them? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :

Nikhil’s energy levels are good in the movie. His dance in the first song is impressive as he tries out some nice movements. Some of his punch dialogues have come out well.The important thing to remember here is the word ‘some’ (more on this later).

The comedy bits involving Raghu Babu as Yugandhar, M.S.Narayana as Pachi Pulusu Nageswara Rao and Ali as Love Kumar are good in parts. M.S.Narayana’s spoofs on Telugu Cinema Heroes work to some extent. The spoofs on Mahesh Babu’s Khaleja character and Pawan Kalyan’s Puli character have come out well. Hema looks good in the brief role that she has.Venu Madhav is just about ok.

Minus Points :

Pooja Bose is a big letdown. She neither looks ravishingly beautiful nor does she know how to act. This is a very very

outdated film with bad dialogues, silly comedy and wasted artistes. Some of Nikhil’s dialogues work, but most of them sound ‘over the top’. The script is full of ridiculous loopholes and there is absolutely no logic in many of the scenes that unfold in the second half.

All the above said errors can be forgiven if the comedy works out well. But except for a few funny scenes, most of the comedy sequences will leave you scratching your head. Master Bharat has been wasted in an atrocious role as Abbay Raju. Same is the case with Brahmanandam. The minuscule and stupid role of ‘Banana Baba’ is an insult to an artiste of Brahmanandam’s calibre. Geeta Singh is silly.

Krishna Bhagawan’s performance gives you the impression that he regrets accepting the role.

The first half is slow and tests the patience. Second half picks up in pace, but is let down by some silly comedy and excessive melodrama that does not work.

Technical Aspects:

Cinematography is just about ok. Production values are on par for a movie of this budget. Director B.Chinni Krishna does a poor job and the movie could have been handled much better. Chakri’s music is passable and there is hardly any number worth remembering. Editing is shoddy.

Dialogues are a major minus. They are cliched, repetitive and poor.

Verdict :

This is a movie that can be safely avoided. It would have been a complete disaster if not for some moments of fun provided by M.S. Narayana, Raghubabu and Ali. There is nothing in the movie that merits a visit to the

However, Seenu's trials to woo her go in vain as Meghana is not interested in love. Meanwhile, a noted don Liquor Shankar (sayaji) is busy searching for Meghana.
